Super green-question, I'm sure, but a friend was just telling me about some sort of digital music that you use a programming language to create. Is this the MOD 4-channel chipmusic stuff? Anybody happen to have any info or know of a good starting point?

I love music, but am not musically inclined at all, but i can program a mad app; kinda exiting to think about puttin' that together.

THanks!

    Hi Rob,

I know of more programming that is for instrument design, or sound design, but not music... there are languages like csound, or graphical environments like Max/MSP or PD.. as well as things like Reaktor, and even Reason.. but, I do suspect that there is something more like you are looking for..

maybe one of these links from wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audi...g_language

or one from this page: www.nosuch.com/plum/cgi/showlist.cgi

I'd be interested in what you find.. :)

    peace

Thank you very much for starting me off! Like you said though, not many seem to be for full-on music production.

I did find SuperCollider promising; at least it has the most interesting examples so far. I'm going to try checking that out and still look around for anything else that might work.

Thanks again for the help! I"ll let you know if i find any other interesting things around.
