http://www.theoppositeoffaith.com/Press_release_DSI_001_01_full.htm

This is likely the last AMV video project Opposite of Faith will do. It is meant to be a demo of the advanced MIDI set up and creative application of the tools we are capable of. We remixed the song ‘Phaseshift’ and created the sound track to it. It feature the combination of the Legendary DJ Quest-one of the founders of modern turntablism, inventor of ‘Hamster Style’ and ‘Power Scratching’

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DJ_Quest

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyaSiUSR8j4

Once again this is a scratch soundtrack-all sound effects were created through DJ performance and/or sound design. Video cuts were done with Serato and any edits or warping were done in Ableton Live and After Effects.

The Dave Smith Instruments Evolver is the master sequencer and controller in this set up. You can see how it works especially during the end solo. Its sequencer sends out MIDI notes to control both Turntables-which are slaved via MIDI-changing their pitch which alters the speed of the turntable platter, This process alters the sound of what ever the turntables are playing and creating a melody matching the Evolvers sequence. The audio signal is also processed on a separate chanels which is brought in through the effects loop. The Ecler Nuo 4 and the Behringer FCB 1010 control parameter (MIDI Control Changes) to give Quest additional control options.

DJ Quest Set up 1:

Video:

Vestax Controller One Turntable
Rane/Serato Video SL
TTM 57
Mixer Video Cuts were done mostly in a separate pass using Serato Video SL

Audio 1:

Vestax Controller One Turntable
Numark CDX CD Turntable
Ableton Live
TTM 57 Mixer

Various samples and sounds that need to be cut in a particular way were burned to CD and the Numark CD was used

Audio 2:

Dave Smith Instrument Evoler
Vestax Controller One Turntable
Ecler Nuo 4 MIDI Mixer
Behringer FCB 1010

The Koass Pad was used as a MIDI controller and the Evolver was used as a MIDI slave and sound processor

Together, Mikey and Gelly both launched the self-coined "HAWT Movement" in February of 2006 in Los Angeles, California. Best friends united by their relentless passion for music, they set out to change the way that people looked at house music, parties, and just having fun in general. "At first we just wanted to start a record label in order to showcase our own music, meanwhile having the opportunity to sign our favorite artists that we admire", says Mikey. "Along with that came the party, and that's what really put us on the map and opened up doors to gradually build relationships that will forever change our lives".

In May of 2006, HAWT Afterhours was born. On every 1st and 3rd Friday since the inception, HAWT's underground parties have not only showcased the DJ talent of various quality acts from all over the world, such as Inland Knights, Justin Long, Johnny Fiasco and many more, but they have also displayed the talent of so many of the great DJ's in the local scene. "We always looked back to the beginnning, before we ever had a gig and knew that this was an important step, something that people needed and appreciated", says Gelly. "Overall, the main focus has always been on bringing back that old school house vibe at parties, bringing friends together with music, and just breaking boundaries and having FUN", according to Mikey. HAWT also stands for "Having A Wonderful Time", and they have done just that with the help of Eddie Barajas, Mike Magana, and many more along the way.

Keep an eye out for original music and remixes by EASILY INFLUENCED, which has been getting played by many world class acts such as Derrick Carter, Justin Long, Phil Weeks, DJ Mes, Natural Rhythm, Ricardo Rae, etc. "We think our versatility will surprise people. We really do love it all, and that will become evident in our music the longer and longer we do this", said Gelly. He continues, "we want our style to basically be versatility, and never want to hold anything back. If we're feeling something, whatever sound or style that may be, we make it."

Bykowski
"Isolation is the gift. All the others are a test of your endurance. Of how much you really want to do it. And you'll do it, despite rejection in the worst odds. And it will be better than anything else you can imagine. If you're going to try, go all the way. There is no other feeling like that. You will be alone with the gods. And the nights will flame with fire. You will ride life straight to perfect laughter. It's the only good fight there is." -Charles Bukowski"

Jack Monforte
In the beginning there was Jack...or so the story goes.
Jack "Freedom" Monforte has been spinning for over two decades now.
An underground fixture since the late eighties, he joined forces with two other promoters
in the early nineties to create Sweet Sundays.
Shortly thereafter he moved to Alaska, where he saw an opportunity to bring the underground techno scene to virgin territory, today Jack is considered one of the pioneers of the Alaskan electronic scene.
Moving back to Los Angeles in the mid nineties saw Jack earn a residency at
Club Diva where he opened up for Richard Vission and live acts like,
Rozalla, Donna Blakely, Alyus, Bad Boy Bill,etc...
In the early part of 2001 Jack along with partner K.C. Santana created Soulplanet Sessions.
a place where musicians,Djs and dancers could come together and create magic.
Soulplanet Sessions has hosted the likes of Marlon D,Master Kev, Tony Powell, Wayne Lyons and numerous other DJs.
Apart from being a producer/ DJ, his other passion is Graffiti art and photography.
Jack's appearances have included...Dirty Dirty House Club, The Clinic, Faith after-hours, Inspiration, Therapy (FTWK), Movin, Union Square Lounge (NYC), The End Up (San Francisco) and countless one offs.
From spinning hip hop to the most soulful garage house music, Jack is
constantly looking for the perfect beat.

The Karas AMV

Anime Music Videos (AMV) are created by hobbyist who take a popular song and add it on top of existing Japanese Animation footage to give the Video a new and more exciting feel. The Karas AMV was created around the idea of taking found sources and samples from existing Japanese Animation titles and combining it with performances highly skilled musicians and Turntablist to recreate the film sound effect work creating a frenetic, hyper real approach to sound design. After the original sound track was removed, the music (Bass performance and Ableton sounds by J of The Opposite of Faith) was written and recorded into Ableton Live- every other voice, movement, moment and mood was created on Turntables and through Turntable mixing techniques (cutting, scratching, transforming) while performing to the video. The approach was expanded by having the Turntablist (DJ Quest and DJ Cplus) manipulating the Dave Smith Evolver and the Korg Kaoss Pad through the DJ mixers and MIDI control. Performances (Bass, Turntables) were record through the EMU 1616 into Ableton Live and warped, edited and combined there. The final mixdown was performed in Ableton Live and Mastered using Summit Audio Tube EQs.

It’s been a dream of ours to have Antix play for us and now it’s going to become a reality . First ever appearance in Los Angeles, Terrakroma and GreenSector are extremely excited to have Antix perform a live and dj set Saturday, November 17th 2007. If you havn’t seen the brothers Strom ever play live before, then you will be in for a real treat seeing one of the great old skoolers of Progg do there thang!! Not only are we lucky to have Antix play their live and dj set, but Bluetech will also perform one of his incredible, groovy and extremely psychedelic live sets in the Downtempo stage and also perform his newest project Evan Mark, really nice, groovy techy music. If you didn’t get to see Bluetech play at symbiosis this year, then you should definitely check out his music, and if you did see him, then you know what’s up!

Not only are we lucky to have Antix and Bluetech perform for everyone, we are blessed to have Kiva and Manny from Greensector, and Dai from Psytribe join in on the fun, who are respectively some of our favorite djs in progressive psychedelic and Downtempo in the west coast. And a super surprise appearance from Trevor Wyse (Greensector), one of the main staples in the California psy scene over the past 10 years who will also share some of his Downtempo magic, not to mention one of our favorite’s Treavor from Moontribe . Also of course our resident dj’s Armando, Gabriel and Andrew (Earthbag) who just simply love to love to play their diverse progressive sounds for everyone.

ANTIX

New Zealand brothers Barton and Hayden Strom aka Antix have been producing a sublimely deep minimal groove that has been rocking dance floors accross the globe far and wide. Iboga Records in Denmark got whiff of the Antix sound and promptly signed the two brothers who then produced their landmark debut album “Lull” in 2003 and a couple years later created there second gem of an album “Twin Coast Discovery” both became landmarks on the progressive scene with top notch reviews and support from leading Dj's and fans alike.
Shortly after, Twin Coast Discovery was re-rubbed by a selection of the finest dance floor hooligans and the remix album contains seven remarkable re-edits from the likes of progressive wonder duo D-Nox and Frank Beckers (Vapour, Polaroid), Fitalic (Bedrock) and label mates Freq, Phony Orphants, Sun Control Species, Ohrsten Nors as well a bonus track by the brothers under their alter ego Fiord.
The brothers are aiming to raise the bar even higher this year, with another Antix studio album titled “Wanderers” due in June. The boys always evolving, have taken their sound to the next level, keeping to their Antix roots of deep atmospheres, infectious bass and minimal grooves but this time with a hint of old skool flavor and unleashing a new level of production.

Bluetech

A classically trained pianist and master of the art of software production. Bluetech's love of the melodic and exquisite sense of sound design makes him one of the most ingenius producers today. Bluetech's sound emerges from his custom-built Reaktor instruments and software based synthesisers as a primordial electro-dub alchemy. While encompassing musical touches from different parts of the globe, he presents a total blend, crossing genres and borders.
Bluetech has created a label called Native State Records to release his own music and music from other artists who cross boundaries between ambient/chill and more idm/experimental sounds. Not content to stay at home, Bluetech has toured extensively and performed in Japan, UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, Croatia, France, Denmark, Mexico, United States, and Canada.
Bluetech has released two albums on Aleph Zero Records, an internationally acclaimed chill label run by recording artist Shulman, and is currently working on a third for release in 2008. Aleph Zero brought Bluetech's music to the attention of the international chill audience, and helped to launch his career worldwide through strong support and beautiful packaging. Stay tuned for the next chapter!

Evan Marc (bluetech)

Progressive Tech project from downtempo producer Bluetech. Melodic and dub influenced music with a focus on dancefloor usability and emotional development. Evan Marc seeks to explore revolving geometries through kinetic audio sculpture. New album 'Emotional Ecology" out now and available on beatport, itunes, or on cd at Native State Records.
*** For Immediate Release ***

San Francisco - Neurochemists at the Center for Applied Vibes—a division of False Profit, LLC—have just announced the discovery of a new element. They are calling it, Avant.

Unlike any other element on the periodic table, Avant has no atomic mass, which places it first on the table, above hydrogen.

“We were baffled because we couldn’t see it,” said Calli Beck, Director of Intimate Observation. “But of course we couldn’t see it. It’s weightless. Avant is not observable. It’s sensational.”

Avant was discovered when several different pleasures were smashed together at high speeds in False Profit’s giant Circular Joy Collider. The company was tight-lipped about which Joys were utilized, however, every scientist I talked to appeared to have chocolate smudges on their lips and berry stains on their lab coats. There were also several empty bottles of wine strewn about the lab. And they were all humming pleasurable music rarely heard in San Francisco.

What also sets Avant apart from other newly discovered elements is that it is useful.

“I stayed up all night studying Avant, and I feel wonderful,” said Director of Chill Studies, Andrea Brooks. “It’s not anything like Einsteinium or Californium, which are highly radioactive and tend to make you groggy.”

False Profit revealed that they’ve been trying to produce this new element for several years now, but when asked what changed for them, VP of Recreational Therapy, Nevada Valentine had only this to say: “We were on the verge of discovery when a Senior Vibrational Analyst from Symbiosis Labs phoned us with a critical piece of information.”

Valentine called that critical information a “trade secret”.

No one at Symbiosis was available for comment because they are all busy tweaking their signature product, the Symbiosis Gathering—set for release on September 20-24 at their headquarters in Northern California.

The weekend before, on Saturday, September 15th at the SomArts Center in San Francisco, Avant, the newest element to the periodic table will be unveiled. False Profit reminds all investors that Avant cannot actually be seen, only experienced.

Vibrasphere Los Angeles, Friday, Sept. 14th

Not too many times you get the opportunity to hear Vibrasphere play live, and when we heard that Rickard was going to be in California during that date, we couldn’t resist!!

So as a result….

TerraKroma is ready to share an “Electro Oyster” experience for all yall that wanna join in on some progressive minimal grooves, with Vibrasphere and also with some of California’s more preferable progressive DJ’s.

(Live Set)

Vibrasphere (Tribal Vision Records)

(Dj sets)

Treavor (moon tribe)(www.desertdwellers.org)
Spyros (psytribe)
Brian Rae (Green Sector)
Earth Bag ( TerraKroma)
Armando (TerraKroma)

VIBRASPHERE (Tribal Vision Records)

Legendary Trance act, Vibrasphere has been providing beautiful psychedelic sounds for a long while now with over 100 released productions to their name and gigs in all over the world, they are without a doubt and fo shizzly one of the most respected trance acts period! Never staying with the same sound, Vibrasphere has always brilliantly shown the ability to change their styles from album to album. Early releases “Echo” (2001) on legendary label ‘Spiral Trax’ one of my all time favorites and “Lime Structure” (2003) on ‘Digital Structures’ further established themselves as truly one of the top progressive trance acts. Their 3rd Album, “Archipelago” (also on Digital Structures) was regarded as one of the best releases of 2006, along with one of my favorite tracks of 2006 “floating free”. Now they have blessed us yet again in 2007 with their 4th full length studio album, “Exploring the Tributaries” this time on Tribal Vision Records. Showcasing once again a different side of the duo’s productions, “Exploring the Tributaries” . Not an album to be missed by all you proggy electro minimal lovers.

Treavor (Moontribe) (www.desertdwellers.org)

Joining in on the fun is one of L.A’s finest on the Progressive Electro front with Treavor one of the Co-founders of L.A’s legendary underground scene Moontribe, and also MoonTribe’s resident dj, Treavor is known for his blending of PsyTrance to chunky supercharged Breaks flowing over to a Progressive-Tribal House sound all while smoothing out even the thickest edges with grooving down-tempo ambiances.
Spyros (Psytribe)
Also we’re blessed to have Spyros One of the leading psyheads of L.A. Psytribe’s, Spyros has been one of the biggest influences of Los Angeles’s Psy Trance Scene, known for his heavy and expressive night time sets and uplifting morning full-on sounds with pinches of progressive beats.
And we wish them a happy 10th anniversary bash on August 18th When they present “A decade of Psychedelic bliss” and hopefully a decade more….

Brian Rae (GreenSector)
We’re also happy as hell to have Brian Rae from (GreenSector) to throw down some of his hypnotic progressive beats, Brian began his career in the electronic music world in 2002 setting up sound systems at various events in LA. During this time he took a liking to the music he was hearing and began collecting. In 2005 he began to DJ and quickly became a resident with Greensector. Since then he has played his selection of deep groovy progressive all over the deserts, forests, and beaches of California.

Armando ( TerraKroma)

Armando comes straight from Cochabamba Bolivia, where he’s played in many events, hypnotizing people with his progressive grooves since 2000. Armando is one of the co-founders of Moontravelers organization, which has been one of the biggest festival organizers in Bolivia, touring around the country and helping start the engine that pushed the electronic scene in his country. All ready helping establish the rock solid psychedelic foundation in Bolivia, 2005 Armando moved out to California, and helped formed TerraKroma and now he is ready to release his first album on monobeat records along with Andrew (Earth Bag).

EarthBag (TerraKroma)

It's been two years since Andrew Schiavone (earth bag) tranceplanted himself from the east coast to now out to the west coast in california, where he has been playing live sets and djing since 2002. Armed with a great knowledge of audio engineering and production, he started up Monobeat Records, and now is one of the co-founders of Terrakroma. His music has evolved in many ways spanning time, as the grooves shifted, the progressive world came front in center in his sets.

Gabriel Valda (TerraKroma)

Gabriel Valda another wonderous import from Bolivia, he's been producing and djing since 2000, playing in numerous festivals and parties including the earthdance. Afterwards he relocated to Boston, and he immediately planted his roots in the scene with live and dj acts. He moved out to the west coast in California, and helped co-found TerraKroma. Gabriel's aural expressivness is distinct, pumpin out phat psychedelic progressive grooves and breaks. Gabriel won't disappoint.

The Seed of Life will be providing sensory-motor OS upgrades on Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 12-4pm.

To start both days, eYen will be facilitating systematic explorations into the Somatic Patterning we use to interface with material reality - the micro-patterns we are rarely conscious of - but use constantly: from rolling out of bed, to coming upright, looking around, walking, running, dancing... all skills we have developed sequentially from birth - and for the most part take for granted.

How can a motor behavior be improved? Are increased range and strength the only measures of possible improvement?
The Functional Approach is concerned with the ease with which one can experience a range of movement, the level of harmony among all the parts of the body coordinated in the action, and the attitude accompanying the activity so that movement is not perceived as a coercion of arbitrary exercise but rather as natural gesture. While grounded in the body, this principle extends far beyond into the full range of human behavior.

After a glimpse into our patterning, the beats will commence. Designed to massage the intellect and move the body outside its normal patterns of use, abstracted rhythms and flowing glitch lines hung together with emotive melodies and warm bass will provide an opportunity to explore what life outside the box can mean:

Andrew Fi and Zach
Two of the three members of Old Sun Storage who have provided many profound and moving experiences for fans and family over the years and performed spectacular sets in the Seed of Life for the last two years. Their live jam sessions are always beautiful, intricate, and emotional. This is bound to be a reunion for the Calgary family at Shambhala. Not to be missed!

RGB {mindcollapse}
Jon, and Derek of Love Filled Portals, who performed some wikid delicate glitch-hop with feather weight scratches and custom built midi gear to a packed crowd in the Seed last year, have been joined by a third member (Tyler) to create this new project. check out some of their audio experiments at: www.lovefilledportals.net

Nori (area709.com)
Well known for his sublime taste in dub and as half of Sons of Aurora (who will be playing on the beach), he has been converted to glitch-side - watch out!

Cory Zaradur (Seed of Life)
Experimenting with emotional story telling, Cory layers beautiful ambiance over complex beat structures to create journeys in sound that make your brain feel delicious. Check out a mix at: www.eleventhtransmission.org/fil....mp3

Black Mother Super Rainbow - Start a People (or any other of their albums, reeeaaally psychedelic and raw)

Kettel - Through Friendly Waters (this one will tug at your heart, if it don't, you must be satan)

Ab Ovo - Empreintes (some very crafty experimental sound, pretty weird if you ask me)

Mochipet - Disko Donkey (usually he's got hardcore breakbeats and mashups and stuff, but this one is waaay chill, weird guy)

Yimino (either of his/their albums, some fun playful, somewhat dark)

Milieu - Songs We Found In The Sand (chiiiiill stuff, lot of ambient)

Ok, i gotta go but that's the first installment of my recommendations. Hope you all don't have a hard time finding this stuff, if you do, please let me know, i MAY be able to hook you up somehow. I'll probably post another installment tomorrow.

Stefan Betke is a notable mastering engineer aligned to the Basic
Channel/ Rhythm & Sound camp who made his name as Pole with a trilogy
of numerical releases (1,2 and 3) at the tail end of the 90s. These
three key releases were all made with a broken Waldorf-4-Pole filter
that produced a crackle, lending a warmth and spatial depth to his dub
techno experiments. The first three records were brilliant, dredging
the sedimented floor of third-hand ideas of dub passed from sources
like Seefeel's "isolationist" ambient music and Chain Reaction's
shimmering "heroin house"

In 2003 Betke departed from this style for the album Pole (a
combination of tracks from two EPs, "45/45" and "90/90"), which
utilized more traditionally electronic but still eclectic
production.Pole has been distributed on several different labels,
including Matador Records and Mute Records, and in 1999 Betke cofounded
(with Barbara Preisinger) the label ~scape, also known for publishing
Jan Jelinek.

http://www.scape-music.de

Glasgow's Kode9 is one of the most respected DJs and producers in the
dubstep scene. He makes further contributions through his UK based
imprint Hyperdub. Traversing a dubtronic, claustrophobic megalopolis of
inner-city paranoia and pulsating dystopia, Kode9's art is challenging,
compelling and repelling: an urgent, cultural injunction. After the
widely acclaimed Burial debut album, Hyperdub threw out another
tangential long player, a mutant-satellite to the grime/dubstep scenes
which featured Kode9 and the resident vocalist Spaceape on 14
dread-filled flash-backs & flash forwards from a planet trembling in an
"echology" of fear..

http://www.kode9.com

Kid Kameleon is a beat strategist and technology enthusiast who blends,
chops, restructures and generally smashes rhythms from across the sonic
spectrum. From breakcore and ragga-jungle to dubstep and grime, with
stops along the way at B-More, dub, dancehall, hip-hop, DnB, electro
and the straight up unclassifiable, he's a champion of underground
sounds and outsider music. The Kid has dropped his fast-paced, eclectic
style at parties from California to Estonia, sharing stages with the
likes of Kool Herc, U-Roy, DJ Spooky, Asian Dub Foundation, Alec
Empire, Squarepusher, The Bug, Vex'd and The Plastician, and many more.

A blogger (kidkameleon.com, riddimmethod.net, and localoaf.org), he
also writes a monthly column called Basic Needs for XLR8R magazine
covering "Low End Necessities from Ragga to Dubstep and beyond". In
2006 he wrote major features on Dubstep, Breakcore, and Berlin's Nu-Dub
Scene (Jahcoozi, The Tape, Al Haca, Tolcha, and Shir Khan), and has
done short pieces on The Bug, Debaser, Ghislain Poirier, 8 Bit Weapon,
Skream, Kode 9, and Dolphin and Teknoist.

Raz Mesinai (aka Badawi) is one of the primary forces for innovative
dub out of New York in the last dozen years. This is the kind of dub
spawned from his live percussion, piano and instrumental foundations
which is expanded upon technologically with a unique experimental
approach to the so- called world movement in music. Raz's knack for
hook laden dubtronic dancehall have influenced and inspired the newer
generation of dubstep musicians

Mesinai's electronic and electro-acoustic music exists at the
crossroads of composition, sound design and modern studio production.
His acclaimed recordings under the moniker Badawi, and as one half of
the seminal duo Sub Dub (with John Ward), are difficult to classify,
but have been called hybrid electronica /dub /percussion/avant-garde
compositions. Since 1999, Mesinai has been releasing music under his
own name as well, including three releases on John Zorn's "Tzadik"
label. and another three on Asphodel including his latest entitled
"Safe".Upcoming releases are a Badawi remix album featuring Dj Spooky,
Kode 9, Dj Rupture, among others, as well as a new Dubstep record due
to be released later this year.

Vladislav Delay (aka Luomo and Uusitalo) is an techno/ ambient
producer and one of the most highly-regarded Finnish innovators in
experimental music and has recorded excellent work for some of
Europe's most challenging electronic labels: Chain Reaction, Mille
Plateaux, Thomas Brinkmann's Max.Ernst, and Staubgold. He seems to
be developing a dragon spirit. The year 2007 marks a satisfying 10-year
anniversary for the artist; it was in 1997 he released his first solo
EP "The Kind Of Blue" His latest release "Whistleblower" on Huume, is
an evolving repetition, a gradually yet naturally escalating mixture of
synthesiswith an organic feeling that pervades through rolling , dubby
basslines and sophisticated textural qualities.

His sonic approach relies heavily on a semi-random element, and many
undulating, complimentary and sometimes conflicting layers interplay
throughout most of his music.

Characteristic traits within Delay's sound are fractured and
syncopated percussion - often placed freely within the music, long
delay repititions of various sounds, syncopated use of vocal samples,
and complicated digital effect processing techniques. Generally, the
music has a very spacious and organic sound
Prepare for Liftoff!
http://worldspaceparty.org

Get ready for something entirely different.

On April 13th the Bay Area joins the world in celebration of space exploration in a unique convergence of artists, scientists, astronauts, performers and musicians.

Yuri's Night is a commemoration of humankind’s first venture into space, by Russian Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin. This gathering bridges national, cultural, generational and social barriers to ignite excitement about what is new on the horizon in space exploration and to remind us of the magnificent feats humanity is capable of.

Yuri's Night Bay Area will be held at Moffett Field in the NASA Ames Research Center's massive SOFIA hangar, home to the world's largest aerial observatory. Our host for the evening is pioneering space traveler Anousheh Anasari, the first privately funded female to reach orbit. She is joined by Dr. Chris McKay, world renowned expert in astrobiology and terraformation with the Space Science Division of NASA Ames Research Center, as they welcome you to a dazzling array of interactive art installations and science demos, interwoven with musical and acrobatic performances by some of the world's finest entertainers.

Cutting-edge interactive technology and live demos will include:

* Neuro feedback games and visualizations including Telekinetic Asteroids and Mind Ripples
* Explorations of the world through NASA World Wind and Gigapan, the high-resolution panorama project
* Portals into Second Life and Burning Man Earth, Google's Black Rock City browser
* A roofless stargazing lounge, with an exceptional telescope provided by NASA
* Squidlabs' Instructables and ground-breaking kite technology

Science demonstrations and innovations from the worlds of robotics, engineering, biology and astronomy, will also be on display:

* A talk and interactive demos from a senior SETI scientist on efforts to detect earthquakes from space
* Explorations of Techgnosis by Erik Davis
* Interactive next-generation science data visualization software from NASA Ames' Astrophysics Division
* Robots from Justin Gray, Carnegie Mellon University, and NASA, including the next generation of rovers
* Exclusive heavenly imagery from Slooh
* Displays of microbial fossils, live microbial mats, and magnetic and fluorescent bacteria
* ASME's human-powered vehicles

Engage with space-inspired and technology-infused art installations, including:

* StarZipper, the 200 foot high installation powered by LEDs and Helium created by internationally renowned artist Michael Light and collaborator Dave Rattray
* Peter Foucault's self-propelled motion sensor Drawing Robots
* Spot Draves' collaborative evolutionary high-definition visual algorithm generator, Electric Sheep
* Dynamically inflating sculptures by AKAirways
* HypKnowTron and ChakraTron, the interactive light sculptures by Gaspo

Experience rare video works documenting art in space:

* Matières Chorégraphiques by Kitsou Dubois, celebrated French dancer, choreographer and artistic director of Ki Productions
* Projects from the Zero Gravity Arts Consortium, Lowry Burgess's monumental project The Seed of the Infinite Absolute, Lorelei Lisowsky, and Frank Pietronigro's 'Drift Painting' in microgravity
* Meet Japan's space artist Ayako Ono and watch Jean Luc Soret's Space Art videos, direct from Paris's International @rt Outsiders Festival.
* The Documentary Dome, featuring our planet's greatest space documentaries

Witness awe-inspiring space-themed performances by an armada of acrobats and dancers, featuring:

* KC Bella Fuega and Spiral Hoop Dance (orbital hooping and bellydance)
* Flowtoys (celestial light performance and UFO flowplanes)
* VigilAntiUP (intergalactic stilting)
* A Parade from the Future (with cutting edge Bay Area circuit benders and other worldly creatures).

MOZAIC - Nexus
DR. TOAST - False Profit

Music environs will be complimented by a team of visual artists -- including KOSHO, CELESTINESTAR, RECURSIVEVIDEOLAB and VIBERATION -- spinning light into space throughout the night.

Meanwhile, outside on the tarmac, the SPACE COWBOYS will have their own dynamic lineup of djs aboard their interstellar party transporter, the UNIMOG. Also on the tarmac will be Playaflies and Rabbit in the Moon's outside VJ set PLUS large scale sculpture and multimedia installations from the bay area's finest and beyond.

This year’s theme is the greenification of space. The event is bio-diesel powered, a variety of organic food and drink will be available, waste products will be composted and recycled, and one tree will be planted for every ticket sold in an effort to offset the event's carbon emissions.

Come join us in celebrating the accomplishments of mankind on a collective cosmic journey to the depths of space and beyond.

Brought to you by Nexus, Symbiosis and so many others.

I'm familure with Aphex Twin, Boards for Canada, and Autechre and movement in general, and by that I mean I can usually identify it when I hear it :) I really like it. I'm a dancer though, and right now I'm looking for IDM that has a really atmospheric feel with passionate/impactful/emotional transitions. Does that make sense? If I'm not explaining myself very well could you just post your favorites, that way I can just check them out for myself?

Thematic Interludes for Pixelated People

Hydrapond will be performing a live set in Second Life on Wednesday, November 28th.
Time: 10:00pm Pacific Standard Time
Where: Second Life/Vieux Hall.

This is my first virtual live set. I am excited and hope it goes off without a hitch. (duh)

For those unfamiliar, Second Life is a 3-D virtual world entirely built and owned by its residents. It is an interesting community which I have not had the time to get actively involved in. Regardless, I am excited to be able to have the opportunity to perform live for you all (without having to transport 2 keyboards, a mixer and a desktop computer). :)

If you wish to view the show but are unfamiliar with Second Life, their website http://secondlife.com/
will obviously be your main starting point. Once you have created an avatar and are in the game the below steps will tell you how to get to the show:

Click the Search button at the bottom of your screen
Click the Places tab at the top of your screen
In the Find window, type Vieux Hall
Click the Teleport button
----------------------------------

Hope to see you there.
here are a couple mixes i recorded live. the mixing is not highly technical but i feel that the energy of the spaces we facilitated prevades and is meaningful to me.
this was recorded at burning man on sunday morning - after the man burnt - just before sunrise...
i feel that it really captured my mood after a week of super-stimulus and the wistful nostalgia of saying goodbye to BRC.

I’ll tell you straight up that it’s not the most technical mix ever, in fact if you listen close you can hear me touch the platter and other stuff like that, but whatever. Any feedback would be great. When I get some time I’d like to record the mix again, add a few more tracks, and clean it up a bit, but this is where it sits right now. Enjoy?

Aleph Zero is proud to present... A New Omnimotion Album!!!

After four years of recording, producing and composing new music in his Ambium Studio based in Stockholm, Sweden, Omnimotion is finally back with a second album. Utilizing inspirations and knowledge he picked up along his very diverse musical path, Stefan has created Dream Wide Awake. The album contains the best musical gems that were carefully chosen from the music that accumulated in this four year period. It is a beautifully mellow yet optimistic album, with a strong acoustic presence. Dream Wide Awake is an incredibly diverse album. It features eight different vocalists- from a rapper to an opera singer- and many guest musicians with an array of instruments including the violin, accordion, guitar, drums, harp & flute. The outcome hovers between the electronic and the acoustic, the hypnotic and the melodic, between abstract ambient and mellow songs, between dubby songs and IDM glitches. Omnimotion weaves and paints here an emotional musical journey that must not be missed and will leave you dreaming wide awake.
With the material soaked in textures, smears, and echo, Deadbeat's sound is distinguished by its immense three-dimensionality of densely layered undulating rhythms that's equal parts techno, dancehall, and soundscape dub. Based in Montreal, Deadbeat and his own special blend of dub laden, minimal electronics made their way around the world, attracting large followings in Europe as well as in North America. has since recorded for such labels as Revolver, Intr_Version, Background, Force Inc, Oral, Scape, Cynosure, and Clitekture. In addition, he has collaborated with Steve Beaupre as Crack Haus and also with Robert Henke (Monolake) as Atlantic Waves.

Richard Devine is on the cutting edge of sound design and musical composition . He is recognised for producing a layered and heavily processed sound, combining influences from old and modern electronic music. The audio he creates experiments with time fields, morphing timbres and shifting rhythmic placements within space. During the last three years he has remixed top artists such as Aphex Twin and Mike Patton. He has released 4 full length records on Schematic, Warp, Asphodel, and Sublight records and performed his ear tearing sonic mayhem worldwide. Based in Atlanta, Georgia, he has done audio constructions for a wide array of films, television productions, and video games. In addition, his work has been featured on new software from a variety of companies including Native Instruments.
ive been listening to it and talking about it so much lately that my friends are starting to worry........i've had to limit myself to only 2 tracks from the album per set ;)

seriously, though............while trentemoller is usually a name associated with the techno/minimal realm, no matter..........there's no genre, its just fucking incredible. gorgeous, haunted, mind-boggling........masterful. i could gush for days. but i'll stop there.

If you would like a ride we can either split gas (if you have a driver's license & can drive a stick shift) or you can pick up the bulk of the gas expenditure if you can't drive. Gas will probably run 50 to 60 bucks each way (I drive a compact car so it isn't outrageous) & I DO have a CD player.
